accommodations
For dbec conferees, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Hotel InterContinental - a downtown landmark famous for its luxury and beauty - at the greatly reduced rate of $169 per night (normally $349/night). The hotel is located in the heart of downtown, on the Magnificent Mile and near other attractions. If you would like to reserve a room**, please follow this link for the special conference rate: dbec rate at the Hotel InterContinental. Reservations must be made by September 27th.
Transportation to and from the Hotel InterContinental will be provided. A charter bus will arrive outside the hotel and return to the hotel from campus at regular intervals. Further information will be provided both online at a later date and in the conference program. Other options exist for getting to campus, including commuter rail, taxi and bus. The International House is currently undergoing further renovation and is no longer available to accept short-term occupants. Similar accomodations may be available at various seminaries in the Hyde Park neighborhood and we encourage interested conferees to investigate these options.
The Ramada Lakeshore is a low budget hotel located in Hyde Park, about a 2 mile walk or taxi ride from campus.
**Attendees who would like to cut costs by rooming with other conferees can send an email to dbec@pondside.uchicago.edu with the word Roommate in the subject. Please send us your name, gender, email address, and phone number (optional). We will coordinate requests and make our best efforts to put potential roommates in touch with one another.
